What is Lumen
Lumen prints are the heir to photographic techniques developed by the first photographers during the XIX century. In special, the photogenic drawings by Henry Fox Talbot, the discoveries of John Herschel and Anna Atkins compositions for the first exclusively illustrated book with photographic images.
Lumen’s aim is to approach and popularize the primitive photographic techniques to contemporary public, as well as to tribute those men and women, who put a lot of effort into it, and transformed their reality to bring to life one of the most valued gifts for us today: Photography.
This photographic technique creates subtle images by contact on a photosensitive surface without using any type of objective or camera. Its developing only requires the action of the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
Lumen prints are visual contemporary depictions that transcend a romantic view of the object. Being determined as a document of composition and life form through the action of light.
A vision where the haphazard action of the sun and weather influences its unique and unrepeatable nature.
